FolioSort's free plan is not a trial and never expires. Organize, Rename and Merge work in runs of 100 files; this page explains the window that appears when a scan finds more, what each of its buttons does, and which screens use a different kind of allowance.
Nothing. A free run stops at 100 files. The rest are held back — left exactly where they were, untouched — and are still there for the next run. The limit never cuts a run halfway through a file, and the 100 that ran are complete and undoable like any other run.
Scanning and previewing are never limited: you can always see what a run would do to every file before deciding anything.
When a scan in Organize, Rename or Merge finds more than 100 files, a window opens before anything is written. It shows two numbers — in this run and held back — and three buttons. The button names follow the screen: Organize, Rename or Merge.

Runs the first 100 files and leaves the others where they are. This is the button most people press, and it is a real run: verified, logged in Activity, undoable.

Shown on the results panel when the run finishes, beside a line such as 1,000 still waiting — about 10 more runs like this. It picks up where the last run stopped, so a large folder is simply several runs in a row. There is no cap on how many.
Unlock all
Opens the plans. With Pro or Elite the same scan runs every file in one go — 100 or 100,000 — without scanning again. See activating your license if you already have a key.
Cancel
Closes the window. Nothing runs and nothing is written.
Camera RAW and cinema RAW videoPro
Camera RAW photos — CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG, RAF, ORF, RW2, PEF and the rest — and cinema RAW video — Blackmagic BRAW, RED R3D, ARRI, Canon Cinema RAW Light, MXF. Everyday formats are free: JPEG, HEIC, PNG, TIFF, MOV, MP4 and the like.
When a scan mixes them, the window says how many files need Pro and the free run files the others. When every file scanned is RAW, it says so plainly instead of offering a button that would file nothing. The full list is on the formats page.
Folder structures and rename presetsFirst 3 free
Three folder structures are free — Year / Month / Day, Year / Month and Year_Month_Day — and so are the first three rename presets. The camera-based structures, custom templates, the other rename presets, regex renaming and tokens such as lens, ISO and city need Pro.
Place names100 per scan
FolioSort turns GPS coordinates into city and country names for up to 100 photos per scan, so you can

UndoLast run
The free plan can undo the most recent run. Pro keeps the last 50 in Activity, across restarts.
Verification and duplicatesFree defaults
Verify after transfer with XXHash64 is free and on by default; SHA-256 is Pro. When a file already exists at the destination, Don't Move is free; Ask Each Time and Automatic are Pro. Both live in Settings.
The cleanup and AI screens work differently: scanning and reviewing are unlimited, and acting on the results has a one-time allowance instead of a per-run one — enough to see it work on your own photos. The screen shows what is left, for example Free plan: 12 of 20 screenshots left to clear.

Screens that need a license
Events is Pro. Workflows, Smart Folders, the AI grouping in Best Shots and Watch Folders are Elite. They stay visible on the free plan so you can see what they do; the license is asked for when you start a run.

The cleanup and AI screens scan and show their results without any limit, so you can judge them on your own photos. Acting on the results has a one-time allowance — 20 duplicates, 20 blurry photos, 20 screenshots — enough to check the cleanup is safe and undoable before you pay.
